I remember that I have gone to a fishing trip with my dad and he sent me back home to get his knife, because he forgot it, he didn’t want to use mine or something else.

My dad has taught me many lessons on how to properly/improperly use knives throughout the years. I can remember going on vacations and stoping by Smokey Mountain Knife Works as a kid. We both would spend hours just talking and looking at the knives there. It is something that I will always remember and a bond that we will always have.

I remember being 4, getting splinters in my hand and my dad bringing over his pocket knife to work them out. Not knowing that’s how you did it, I took off running, convinced I was going to be stabbed for climbing the fence.

My dad gifted me his old slip joint knife that my grandfather gifted to him.

My father gave me my first ever swissarmy knife when I was around 8 for my scout camp. The camp was awfully hard, but the lil’ knife was very handy, and saved it.

My dad was the one to show how to use a knife not only in daily life, but also in though situations – like in a cave. During my Master degree studies I descent into the deps of the Earth more tha than 50 times! Knife was a crucial tool for me then. Once even it cut a rope to let loose spare gear – without it, I could get to the surface by myself.

My favorite memory with my dad is when I bought him his first knife as a father’s day gift. He wasn’t sure at first, but he quickly became a knife guy after using it for just a little while. We bonded over this connection.

My dad isn’t connected to me by blood, but he’s the best dad I could’ve ever asked for. Best moments with my Dad were those hot days when we’d go to work together and he’d buy us something delicious to eat while we talked about random stuff and drank ice cold drinks. Something about it just hit different despite having more work waiting for us after. He isn’t perfect, but he definitely made a positive impact shaping me into the man I am today. Gracias por todo Papa.

I used to go fishing with my dad on his boat from a very young age, north of Trondheim (Norway). So I learned a lot about knives and knife safety on a small fishing boat from him at a young age. So those are some memories I will always cherish. I also learned a lot about knives from my grandfather since I was a lot closer to him, and I think I got most of the appreciation for knives from my grandfather. Always having a knife available for me and for him when doing chores or just camping and hiking. Some of the best memories I have from a young age.

My dad was POW after VN war, so he was in POW prison for 7 years. It wreaked havoc on his body and so he was always very small in stature. My earliest memories with him were when I was a kid, he would let me sit on his shoulders to watch Lunar New \Year Lion Dancing as I was a fanatic when I was a kid. You don’t really appreciate what your parents do for you until you have kids of your own. So as a Dad.. I finally learned how much love he had for me and how much crap he had to take from me as a kid.

Steve came into my life when I needed a father figure the most. I was 10 years old, and never had a man to call dad. My mother met him and the connection between us was instantaneous, we bonded over music, cars, mtn biking and much more. 30 years later, i can truly call him my Dad and would never see it any other way. He makes me feel proud of our life together and I look up to him with tremendous respect and gratitude. Thank you Dad for all you have done.

My father worked with and by his hands. They were rough, scarred and strong. In later years arthritis denied him the ability to make a strong grip. I still showed him my new knives, but I had to open them. Some of the new ball bearing knives might have worked for him.

Dad is the one who got me into all of the cool stuff
camping, working on cars, always carrying a pocket knife. Things that make you a complete and well rounded person. Back then I had a Swiss Army knife and a Camillus Army utility knife
great for opening cans and tightening screws. Now i carry a multi tool and a dedicated picket knife. Some lessons dad teaches you last all your life.

My birth father was never in the picture when I was growing up. I learned later in life that this was a good thing as he turned out to be a terrible human overall. All three of my sisters have the same father, however, and this was who raised me growing up. From the moment that he came into my life until his dying days he never once thought of, looked at, or treated me as anything other than his son. He taught me more than he probably realized as I watched and imitated EVERYTHING that he did and said. He was always a well-groomed and fashionable man so any time I go for a haircut, have a shave, or spray on some cologne I am reminded of all of the times that I spent observing him do the same. I look forward to teaching these habits to my son as well in his coming years. Happy early Father’s Day to all of the Dads out there; whether biological, step, or otherwise!

I remember going out and learning how to fish with my Dad. I caught a large mouth bass and he let me keep it as a pet in a fish tank at our house. I myself am a new dad and can’t wait to teach my son the same way my dad taught me.

My dad taught me everything i know. He was always there when i needed him. I credit him for the man i am today and do my best to make him proud. He collected knives which is where my love for knives came from. I wish we could have had more time together. I love and miss him so much everyday.

As of nature of work I do, I need to stay competitive many times, and each time of critical moment, I remind myself what my dad told me: “Do just enough that you know you did what you can and wont regret” and I go back to this phrase over and over because after all what the results were, I rather did my best, or had regret.

My father and I this year made countless trips to department stores and he taught me some basic woodworking skills, and I was able to make him his own shelves for his Mario figure collection. Thankfully, I had good tools, guidance, and my trusty Altus to help me with my projects.

My Dad is no longer with me, he passed in 2013. But my fondest memory that I love telling people, is when my dad took my brother through a military base tear gas training room. My Dad was a Recruit Division Commander (RDC) in the navy, at the time. He had my brother and I out for a day of fun but needed to go back to base to grab a few things. As we were following my dad, he says, let’s take a short cut. He opens a door and proceeds forward, my brother and I quickly follow, but once we enter the room, our eyes start burning and we start coughing. All we can hear is my dad laughing and saying following my voice. My brother and I tried to follow directions toward his voice, but failed miserably. What felt like an eternity was only about a minute in real life. My Dad walked back in and grabbed us and left us out. You could hear lots of laughter as my dad’s navy buddies were howling. He immediately walked us to a hose and had us rinse our faces off and told us to open our eyes to the water. My brother and I were livid that day. I now look back and laugh because it reminds me of the practical joker my dad was. He never took life too serious. And now as an adult, I’m just like him. I miss him everyday, but I have a whole lot of good memories

My family owned a local sporting goods business for decades. All of my best childhood memories are looking at the knife cases and going out in the woods with one of my dad’s old knives. Sadly, we lost the store to a fire, but i will never forget the knife love forged in that store with my Dad.

I once lost my dad’s pocket knife in some cotton seed that was used as cattle feed. I reluctantly went to tell him. He grabbed a magnet and we searched for it together and somehow found it. It was a needle in a haystack situation but thanks to his patience it was a great learning experience for me.
